Accelerating and Strengthening Skills for Economic Transformation (ASSET) is pleased to announce the innovative competition, titled, Skills and Innovation Competition 2023, in collaboration with the Directorate of Technical Education, Department of Technical and Madrasa Education, Ministry of Education. The event took place at International Convention Centre, Chattagram on 6th April 2024. Besides, a spectacular rally, a prize distribution ceremony along with a seminar on the importance of technical education was organized.

The Asset Skills and Innovation Competition 2023 aims to highlight the proficiency and talent of Bangladesh’s skilled workforce across various technical disciplines. As part of the commitment to promoting vocational education and skill enhancement, this event recognizes its significance in driving economic growth and societal development.

Participants from diverse backgrounds competed in skill-based challenges, providing a platform for them to showcase their expertise and creativity in their respective fields.

Esteemed officials and experts in technical education were present to offer insights into the importance of skill development initiatives in shaping the future workforce. The Honorable Minister of Education Ministry Mr. Mahibul Hasan Chowdhury, M.P attended the event as chief guest. Additionally, Honorable Minister of State for Labor and Employment, Heroic Freedom Fighter Mr. Md. Nazrul Islam Chowdhury, MP, Hon’ble Minister of State for Finance Ms. Begum Wasika Ayesha Khan, MP; Honorable Mayor of Chittagong City Corporation, Heroic Freedom Fighter Mr. Md. Rezaul Karim Chowdhury; Additional Secretary of Technical and Madrasa Education Department of the Education Ministry Dr. Md. Sirajul Islam; Director General of Technical Education Board; Mr. Md. Aziz Taher Khan; Additional Divisional Commissioner, General Mr. Muhammad Anwar Pasha and ADC (Revenue), Chattogram Mr. Md. Abdul Malek were present. Mr. Abu Mumtaz Saad Uddin Ahmed, Project Director (Additional Secretary), Asset Project; Dr. Farid Uddin Ahmad, Secretary, Technical and Madrasa Education Department, Ministry of Education presided over the event.

With 55 projects from 20 technical institutions in Chattagram region, 3 winners were selected at institutional level. The winners were later declared by the Honorable Minister of Education Ministry Mr. Mahibul Hasan Chowdhury, M.P with Comilla Polytechnic Institute taking first place for IOT based Appliances Control System. The second winner was Bangladesh Sweden Polytechnic Institute for the invention of Smart Foot Over Bridge. Third winner was Bangladesh Sweden Polytechnic Institute for International Smart Academic Infrastructure. The presence of these esteemed guests uphold the significance of the Asset Skills and Innovation Competition 2023 in promoting skill development and its role in shaping the future of the workforce.
